Yankee Candle Advent Calendar 2014 - Christmas Wreath

After the success of the Yankee Candle Christmas wreath last year, Yankee have brought out two advent calendars for 2014. The advent calendar 3D house, and a blue Christmas wreath. Since missing out on the limited edition advent calendar last year, I wasn't leaving it until last minute this year so I picked up both advent calendars this year! You can see my previous post about the Yankee 3D house advent here, however this one is all about the 2014 Christmas Wreath! How cute is my fireplace looking already, and it's only September!

I wasn't sure whether I really needed two advent calendars, but after taking delivery of the 3D house, I knew I just HAD to have the wreath too. I ordered it online at very.co.uk whilst they were offering their spend £50, get £20 off deal, so I picked up my advent calendar and two onesies for £30 which I thought was an awesome deal. Today the post man turned up at my door with this box. I instantly knew what it was, and got a little too excited!

I couldn't wait to get it opened. I'm such a kid when it comes to anything Christmas or Yankee Candle related, so you can just imagine my excitement about this package!

It came with this "how to love your yankee candle" leaflet, which is actually really informative. It explains how long the candles should last, when you should trim the wick etc. I've bought tons of Yankee Candles in the past but never received one of these, so extra bonus points for very!

Here it says that the scented tea lights should last between 4 and 6 hours. How amazing is my house going to smell by December when I have these burning for 4-6 hours, and the ones from the Christmas 3D house too, eeek I can't wait!

Lets get back to the advent calendar...

I really love the design of the box. It's super cute. If only I had a blue wall I could hang it on, it would look like a real wreath. Yankee Candle have truly captured the spirit of Christmas in their advent calendars this year. Who wouldn't want a Christmas wreath that looked as pretty as this? Now lets check out the back of the box, where we can find out exactly what's inside. If you want your advent calendar contents to remain a surprise, you may want to end your reading here because I do open it up shortly!

The box says "count down to Christmas with this collectable advent calendar from the worlds favourite candle company! Every day reveals a tealight candle in one of five seasonal scents, and a special treat on the 24th! Light a new candle each day of advent and celebrate the festive season with your favourite Yankee fragrances. Happy holidays from Yankee Candle"

The fragrances inside are a perfect selection of Christmas scents. I'm personally a huge fan of all of them!

Snowflake cookie - A new Christmas tradition that is sure to charm: perfectly pretty festive cookies, deliciously decorated with sugar pink icing.
Icicles - The crisp, winter forest scent of ice covered pine branches with tingly notes of spicy cinnamon.
Angel wings - Spirits rise on this beautiful, airy aroma of joyfully sweet spun sugar, heavenly sheer flower petals and divinely smooth vanilla.
Cranberry Ice - Refreshinly tart and sweet! A cool, stimulating rush of frosty red fruits bursting with a tangy sweetness.
Christmas Cookie - Buttery rich, vanilla scented, holiday sugar cookies.
Christmas garland - The season comes to life in this lush aroma of fresh-cut pine boughs and zesty cranberries.

You receive 5 of each scent. Yes, you do get 25! That's your extra surprise, on the 24th you will receive two tea lights. I'm going to keep one of them for Christmas day so my house smells delicious right the way through Christmas.

These are the tea lights in all their glory. You'll see the two really close together in the middle, they are for Christmas eve.

I hope you enjoy this review / un boxing. I also made a video of this on Youtube, you can see that video here now :) To purchase your own Yankee Candle 2014 avent calendar, head over to yankeecandle.co.uk or very.co.uk

Zoella Beauty Products Review

Zoe Sugg is a true inspiration. She honestly deserves all of the success in the world, and for that reason alone, I bought the Zoella Beauty products. It's not often that I will buy a perfume, body lotion or candle without smelling it, but when it came to the Zoella Beauty range, they were items I was buying regardless. It's very rare that you can find somebody who is genuine, and who you truly admire for their success. Zoe has managed to capture the world simply by being herself, and I wanted to support her on her way to world domination, any way I could.

Zoe, congratulations. You genuinely do deserve all of the happiness in the world. You work extremely hard, and I wish you all of the success you can possibly receive.

As soon as I knew that Zoe's products were due to release, I set an alarm on my phone to get up early and place my order. I'm amazed that the items arrived so quickly, thanks to FeelUnique.com It arrived today (next day so I'm really impressed).

I ordered the following products:

Creamy Madly Dreamy Body Lotion
Soak Opera Bath Soak & Shower Cream
Blissful Mistful Fragranced Body Mist
Lets Glow Fragranced Candle
Fizz Bar Fragranced Bath Fizzer

If you were to ask me for my first impression of the items, all I can say is Zoe. They are Zoe all over. From the colours, to the design, scent and everything else.

Imagine the essence of Zoella wrapped up in adorable packaging. That's exactly what you receive.

The first product I opened up was the creamy madly dreamy body lotion. I'm a body lotion addict and I'm very particular about the items I use. It smells delightful, really light but with a fruity scent, It's not too think so soaks into your skin quickly, which is great. There are some lotions I have to use only at night time, to avoid getting oily marks on my clothes, but the Zoella body lotion is definitely not one of those. I was so excited to read the back of the items, made under license for Zoella. So proud!

Then I retook my shower, just to test out the soak opera bath soak and shower cream. I love the way everything is sealed. Perfect if you're buying in store and don't want products other people have messed around with!

I will probably reuse it in the bath with the bath fizzer at some point, but it's very creamy and smells delicious. My husband actually commented on the scent, saying it reminded him of holidays, which is always great! My skin feels fresh and awesome after using it too.

I opened up the bath fiz bar just because I wanted to see how it breaks apart. It totally reminds me of a chocolate bar. Only, it smells much nicer. It even has cute little Z's all over it! I love the fact it's covered in "DO NOT EAT", that totally made me laugh. The same scent is carried through the full range, and it's all really fresh and light, not too over powering which is awesome. I'm about to go and run a bath just because i'm too impatient to wait and try it out, so i'll add some pictures of it in water here and come back to my post when i'm finished in the tub!

Wow ok, awesome bath fizzer. The bath smelt amazing when I popped it in, it got creamy and I don't know how else to explain it, heavenly. I added a little of the soak opera to the tub and it started to fill with bubbles instantly.

Then it was time to add the bath fizz...Zoe is definitely an up and coming competitor for Lush. Sorry Lush!

Many of you know my obsession with Yankee Candle, so Zoella Beauty "Let's Glow" candle had to be good to compete with my favorites. I really wasn't expecting it, but it's up there with my top 10. Since it only costs £5, compared to my Yankees at £20, it's definitely worth purchasing. The scent isn't too overpowering, but it certainly stands out among my collection. I lit it in my bedroom, and my whole room smelled of the Zoella fragranced within 20 minutes or so. I haven't lit it long enough to know how it melts, but there's no pooling so far, so i'm happy. I will be buying some more candles to give to friends and family as gifts at Christmas.

I'd definitely recommend following Zoe's advice on the candle tin, "Create your own relaxing space and surround yourself with a fragrance for a much needed wind down. This cute and calming candle will help free your mind with its gentle blend of white wood accents, sweet vanilla and soft floral notes."

My Blissful Mistful body mist is already in my hand bag. I love the design on the bottle, it's very Zoe! The scent is the same as the other products, light and fresh, with slight floral hints. I personally prefer using a perfume over body mist on a regular basis, but it's perfect for topping up on the go. I would recommend purchasing the body mist if like me, you don't like overpowering scents.

Overall, a fabulous range from a wonderful woman. Congratulations again Zoe.

DIY - Home Made Pore Strips

I've found myself in a familiar situation one too many times. I go to use a pore strip, to find an empty box! This has happened way too regularly for me, so I set myself a task to find an alternative. After searching google for a while, I found a couple of ways to make a DIY pore strip. I tried out both methods but this one worked out best for me so I figured I'd share it with you all.

It's really simple to make and use, and you probably already have the ingredients at home.

You will need:
Milk (any kind of milk will work)
Gelatine
Old makeup brush
Bowl
Microwave

Take a table spoon of gelatine and place into a bowl.

Add a tablespoon of milk

Mix milk and gelatine together to create a lumpy paste.

Microwave the mix for 10 seconds. Don't allow it to go over the 10 seconds or it will burn.

Allow to cool for a few seconds, and then test the mixture on the back of your hand to ensure it's not too hot. Pop an old makeup brush into the gelatine/ milk and mix it.

Once it's cool enough that it wont burn your skin, brush on a thin layer of the mixture to your problem areas. Allow to dry. When it's not sticky to touch and feels hard, it's time to remove. Peel the pore strip off your face slowly.

This diy home made pore strip definitely works. I'm not sure if you can see in this picture, but this is after use. You should be able to see the dirt and grime from my pores on this strip. I know it's gross, but I love seeing what it gets out of my skin. I'm weird :)

If you try this out please let me know how it works for you :)

The body Shop Haul

The body shop isn't somewhere that I shop regularly, but when I do, I tend to go a little crazy. I was browsing the website last week and found that they had an offer on that I just couldn't ignore. I can't remember the deal word for word but it was a case of spend over £5, and you receive free delivery, 40% off and a free gift. How could anybody pass up on this? I started browsing the website and since I didn't particularly know what to get, I thought I'd pick up some items to review for you.

I ordered in 4 separate orders, since I wanted as many freebies as possible and there were no delivery charges, so today my final orders arrived so it's time to share!

Originally I wanted to get a hand cream, since my skin tends to get really dry as the colder weather sets in. Then came a problem, how could I possibly decide which scent to pick up? There were so many to choose from, so I figured what the heck, I'll pick them all up!

I ordered the following hand creams in the 30ml sizes:
Moringa
Honeymania
Shea
Mango
Coconut
Pink Grapefruit
Satsuma

When I added them to my cart, it came up asking for the discount code and it added absinthe purifying hand cream 100ml to my order! How amazing is that. I actually separated these hand creams so I got two of the absinthe hand creams (one of which will be available in my give away at the start of December).

Then I figured I needed some more items to review. I originally wanted to pick up their new range of nail polishes but I couldn't find them anywhere on their website, so I opted for some lip products. The body shop do actually carry more scents in this range, however some were out of stock when I was placing my orders, so I picked up these from the born lippy range:
Strawberry
Passionberry
Watermelon
Satsuma Shimmer
Raspberry

This order went in a day later, and I noticed that the free gift had changed. This time, it was the vitamin E moisture cream. I split this order into two again, and picked up two of these moisturizers which I was really excited about.

I'll be using these products over the next couple of days and I will review them fully for you. I was just way too excited to show you my purchases to wait any longer to post!

Halloween Treats - Chocolate Witches Hats

I was feeling a little creative today so I made these fun halloween witches hats using Cadburys Caramel Biscuits. They're delicious and really fun to make :)

First of all you will need the following ingredients:
Hersheys Kisses
Cadburys Caramel Biscuits
Food colouring (I picked out orange and green)
Icing bags
Your favourite frosting

To begin, seperate your frosting into two bowls (if you want to use two colours).

Then add a drop or two of food colouring to each bowl and mix well. Once it's all combined, pop the frosting into two seperate icing bags or zip lock bags and cut a small hole out of the corner.

Take your hersheys kiss out of it's wrapper and take out a couple of cadburys caramel biscuits out of the packet. Now it's time to make our witches hats!

Simply pop a big dollop of frosting onto the bottom of your hersheys kiss, and place it into the center of your witches hat. As you press down, the icing should spill out of the side of the kiss and create your delicious halloween treat.

These are perfect halloween treats to make with your kids or your friends. You could even hand them out to trick or treaters on halloween.
